From the blank to the finished steel structure – precise, safe and certified

  • Manufacturing to engineering drawings

    You learn to read highly complex technical plans flawlessly and, based on them, to manufacture exact metal structures and massive assemblies.

  • Professional welding

    You learn various advanced welding processes to join thick steel plates and delicate components together absolutely safely, durably and without distortion.

  • Exact-fit assembly

    You cut profiles to size, bend and form components, and install the finished structures directly into the track-building machines, which weigh up to 84 tonnes.

Manual skill and the will to build genuine high-end equipment

  • School qualification

    A good intermediate secondary school certificate (Realschulabschluss) or lower secondary school certificate (Hauptschulabschluss) – your manual skill and your motivation count for more than a perfect set of grades.

Frequently asked questions

Which welding processes will I learn during the apprenticeship at L&S?

You learn the common, highly sought-after industrial welding processes (such as MAG and TIG welding) from the ground up and perfect them on our massive components, including the chance to earn certified welding certificates.

Do I have to be extremely strong for the apprenticeship?

Manual skill, logical thinking and precision matter far more than sheer muscle power. To move our assemblies weighing several tonnes, we have state-of-the-art overhead cranes and ergonomic lifting equipment at our disposal.

How does the support for the exams work?

Very intensively! Our experienced master craftsmen and technicians take the time to practise the hands-on techniques with you. For questions on vocational school (Berufsschule) theory, we will not leave you on your own either, and we prepare you specifically for Part 1 and Part 2 of the final examination.
